Car Lifts

How does it work?
The scheme operates in Ilkley and Ben Rhydding providing car lifts for those who find public transport difficult due to age, illness or disability.  Transport is primarily for medical appointments. All lifts are provided by our volunteer drivers using their own cars.

Is there a charge?
There is no charge, however, voluntary donations are much appreciated.  Donations support the charity and will help ensure the continuation of the service.  When booking we will advise an appropriate donation based on the length of your journey.

Who will take me?
One of our volunteers will collect you from home in their own car, take you to the appointment and bring you home again.  All our volunteers are vetted by us using references, DBS and licence checks.

If you need a lift, please:

  • Ring our office giving as much notice as possible, or
  • Click here to use our Contact Form and we will ring you
  • Have ready, details of your appointment and any special requirements.
  • We will find a volunteer driver and ring you to let you know their name.
  • The driver will contact you directly to confirm the exact arrangements.

As we rely on volunteers, there may be occasions when we cannot find someone to provide a lift.  In this case we will ring you to let you know at the earliest opportunity.

Could you be a volunteer car driver?

  • A clean driving licence is preferable but not essential.
  • It is normally permitted by your insurers without affecting your premium.
  • A DBS check is required for all volunteers.
  • Advise your availability and choose how often you drive.
  • A mileage allowance can be claimed.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer driver should contact our Transport Coordinator, or Click here to use our Contact Form
